Friday find #01: The Raah Project

December 17, 2010

I’ve been lucky over the past couple of weeks to see some wonderful artists perform.

One such performance was The Raah Project, at Melbourne Recital Centre. The Raah Project brings together a truly amazing ensemble of brass, strings, rhythm and a couple of brilliant composers. I’m totally in love with their sound and have been playing their CD to anyone who will listen all week.

Their music varies from orchestral sounding to hip hop, jazz and a touch of classical. Here’s a sample:

What do you think?

This one is a bit darker and made me cry when I heard it live… inspired by a wedding party which was mistaken for insurgents and bombed. As Tamil said, “there’s some joy, in the middle section,” otherwise it’s a beautiful kind of sad.

You can download the Score album here.
